Homework Tutoring

For many families, homework is a major source of stress at home. Forgetting to do it, having too much of it, and not understanding it are all contributing factors that result in students struggling to confidently and successfully complete all of their homework.

According to a 2013 research study conducted by Stanford University (1), 56% of students considered homework to be a primary source of stress, resulting in physical health problems, an imbalance in their lives, and alienation from society from spending too much time doing their homework.

Being a good student does not always mean homework comes easy; many students struggle with generalization of their skills from school to the home environment. That’s because homework often requires a separate set of skills, including time management, prioritization skills, study skills, and task initiation and completion with complete independence.

Our homework help tutoring service is designed to provide one-on-one support for students after school to help them organize and tackle all of their work. Our tutors will help students create an individualized organizational system using a digital or physical planner, enhance their self-advocacy skills to ask for help or clarification from their teachers and peers when needed, master prioritization systems to distinguish between tasks that should be completed first and tasks that will come later, and enhance their ability to thoroughly read and follow directions.

Tutors work closely with their students as they complete their various homework assignments and plan for future assignments, decreasing support as needed and as independence gradually increases.

Our homework tutors have experience across all subject matter and content areas and can help their students not only complete their homework in a timely manner, but enhance comprehension, too, to build greater confidence and independence when completing homework.
