Executive Functioning Coaching

Executive function is a set of skills that combines motor, sensory, communication, and cognitive skills to use working memory, flexible thinking, and self-control. Executive functioning impacts how we manage our daily lives, including working and learning. Deficits with executive functioning can result in difficulty focusing, following directions, and regulating emotions.

For students with executive functioning difficulties, life can be simply overwhelming.

Our executive functioning coaches specialize in supporting students as they develop their time management, task management, study skills, organization, planning and prioritizing, memory, initiation, self-monitoring, and follow-through of tasks, academic and social self-advocacy skills, breaking down assignments into more manageable portions, and setting short-term and long-term goals.

Many high school students come to us in search for an executive functioning coach to support them through the college application process, including researching colleges, writing the college essay, filling out the Common Application, keeping track of the various deadlines and school requirements, collecting application requirements such as letters of recommendation and transcripts, and submitting applications.

The ultimate goal is to help your student develop their functional skills to more confidently and independently accomplish tasks, be successful and independent academic and social problem-solvers, and feel more in control of their academic and social lives.
